All About Children ensures that every child has a right to feel safe and protected from any situation or practice that results in a child being physically or psychology damaged. We have a responsibility to promote the welfare of all children and young people to keep them safe and practise in a way that protects them.

For the purpose of this policy All About Children refers to Tina Say only.

The purpose of the policy is to:
  • Protect children and young people who receive All About Children services.   This includes the children of the adults who also use the All About Children services.

All About Children will:
  • Ensure that all adults working with the children have a current and up to date DBS check and completed safeguarding training.
  • Have a registration form from each parent for the children attending a class. This will include medical information, contact details and emergency phone numbers. This information will be kept strictly confidential.
  • When working in schools with children, All About Children (Tina Say) are to be supported by at least one member of staff of the school.
  • When working within organisations such as schools, nurseries, charities, Hospitals All About Children should be informed of any relevant medical history of the children or adults participating so that the session(s) can be tailored for individuals needs.
  •  In the event of an accident, an accident book will be filled in, logging dates, times and actions taken which parents will sign. This will then be kept for 5 years. If working within an organisation All About Children will also comply with local policy.
  • Where possible sessions will have more than one adults present or at least within sight and hearing of others.
  • Treat everyone with respect; being aware that someone else might misinterpret actions even if well-intended.
  • Respect a child’s right to personal privacy.
  • Take action to stop any inappropriate behaviour (verbal or physical).
  • Ensure that the correct and named adult collects the child after the session – any changes need to be stated by the parent or adult with the child at the beginning of sessions.
  • Peer Masaage in the form of Story Massage will be carried out over clothing and with the child's consent.  Any child who does not wish to engage in peer massage will be given the option of doing self massage, using a soft toy or observing.
  • Any concerns in regards to child protection, where appropriate this will be discussed with the parent/carer and if not will be referred – if a child tells us something we will write it down and not ask leading questions.
  • Remain within the guidelines of confidentiality at all times.

If a child is not picked up following the session or someone different is collecting and All About Children is unaware of this, then they will contact one of the emergency contacts on the registration form.  If there is no response from that contact, then the local child protection services will be contacted and advice will be asked from the Duty Officer.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss this, then please feel free to contact Tina @allaboutchildren.org.uk.
